purple Saris racks support TNT!

It's only $5, but that's still pretty cool :)

New!

It kinda looks like this group hasn't been updated in awhile, but I'm giving it a shot anyway!

What chapter are you with? Brooklyn, NY

What event are you doing? New Jersey 1/2 marathon

How's the fundraising going? Yikes.  Just started.  I'm participating with two of my friends and we work together and are all in the same social group so I'm a bit worried about hosting events!

How's the training going? So far, great! It feels really good to be a part of a "team" again, and I've already met some cool people.

Who are you honoring or remembering? I am lucky enough not to know anyone personally who has suffered fom these types of cancers.  However, the team members who are themselves survivors or going through treatments are certainly an inspiration.

Have you done TNT before? Do you have any advice? First time!  Done a sprint triathalon, but that's about it.

Hi out there!

LA Marathon

Anyone here running it tomorrow? I am (along with my girlfriend)!

New Member

I just found this community. I ran with Team in Training at the Nike Women's Marathon October 21, 2007. Participating in TNT changed my life and it is the best thing I have done for myself in years! Starting in a couple weeks I will begin training again, but this time am participating as a Mentor. I am going to run the Anchorage Mayor's Marathon June 21, 2008.

What chapter are you with? Washington/Alaska

What event are you doing? Mayor's Marathon - Anchorage Alaska - June, 21, 2008

How's the fundraising going? Havent' started yet, but was over goal for Nike in 2007

How's the training going? I will let you know when I start, but my last TNT session was fantastic!

Who are you honoring or remembering? My Uncle, who is an active TNT participant and a survivor and honored team mate. My father in law who was diagnosed last year with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Have you done TNT before? Yes Do you have any advice? Don't skip any of the group trainings if possible. The long runs are increasingly important and critical. Don't over do it. Listen to your body, follow good nutrition. I can't recommend highly enough - Nancy Clark's Nutrition Guide for Marathoners. It is my runner's nutrition bible. Try not to let fundraising discourage you. It can be intimidating, but you have to not be afraid to tell everyone you see whether you know them well or not what you are doing and why. Make your story personal and heard! I had strangers asking me about the hospital type TNT wrist band I wore. It got me random cash donations from people in odd places. Send letters to everyone - and more than one! Letters were my major source of $.

What Else???

I have updated this page, my myspace page, everything I can think of. I have played scrabble on the computer (addiction!). Basically, I am just plain bored. I finally felt like I was getting a life, and now I am stuck back in the house, out of my routine, cause of a sick kid. Actually, it is probably a good thing. Today is supposed to be a training day off...but I want to exercise!! (WOW!) Anyway, thanks for keeping up with my training! And check out my myspace page if you are as bored as I am:

It's kinda silly!
Byeeeeeeee!

Training, well, sort of.

SO, I did my runs on Mon and Tues - treadmill and only two miles, but hey, gotta keep plugging away at it.

Tonight I had plans to meet friends for coffee - they both backed out. Anna wanted to go to the coffee shop anyway (and I never turn down coffee!) So, I spent an hour or so addressing envelopes for Christmas cards. I had printed off my letters at work today (shhh, don't tell anyone!). I have about 30 done? Could that be right? I keep thinking of people to send them to, so I am in NO WAY finished. But I thought I would at least know 50 people. Ahhhhh, well. Such is the life of a loner, single mom. It takes a lot to get a babysitter, plan a night out, get up for work the next am, etc. Any ideas?????? Let me know. Because I need to get out. At least once in a while...and pretend I am human and not just "mom" (not that it isn't the most important job in the word).

I am counting tonight as training. Not physical, but you have to get the money in too. I am still at 24% of my goal. I am hoping Christmas brings out the good spirit and wallets of people. Not to mention, it's tax deductible.

Cat - hope you are feeling better. Thanks for not sharing germs. Jenni - I hope you are not puking your guts out and are doing GREAT post op.

Cheevah ---- DID YOU FLASH BACK WHEN YOU HEARD THE SONG ON MY MYSPACE PAGE???????????? I couldn't resist, even though it made me cry - Elvis is in Joan Rivers, but he's trying to get out, man, he's trying to get out!

Everyone else, HEY! Email me, comment me, or something. Let me know I am not alone in this world (though alone on Cumberland Island camping would be a WHOLE different story!)

Love to all (sorry, I have written too many cards tonight - I may have told my hairdresser that I loved her. I do love my hair - does that carry over?) Oh well, she will either donate or be really creeped out a avoid me when I call for an appt - which needs to be soon!

BYE!

I just felt like running...

What chapter are you with? Inland Empire/Orange County

What event are you doing? Either the Los Angeles Marathon or the Nashville Country Music Marathon

How's the fundraising going? Well, I just signed up today, but my mom and brother said they're going to donate, so I've got a few bucks there!

How's the training going? I've actually been running on my own for about 12 years and finished two marathons, two halfs and a handful of 10K's, but have never trained with a team or coach, so I'm interested to see how this goes for me.

Who are you honoring or remembering? My girlfriend's dad.

Have you done TNT before? I have not. Fundraising tips would be greatly appreciated.

Recommitment

Hello all :)

Well I got my recommitment form in the mail. I have to admit I was a bit shocked. I guess I didn't realize I had to recommit by agreeing to charge whatever remaining balance I don't raise ($4100) by October 12th. I guess I thought if I didn't make the minimum I just couldn't go. I do understand that they need to cover the costs but honestly I'm not rollin' in the dough and if I was left paying $1000 or so (if I didn't make the minimum) that would really screw my finances up.

Hrm. So, I'm not sure what to do. Anyone else a bit alarmed? Have any ideas?
